Heriot’s Blues Could Be The Biggest Test So Far

The dream continues and Highland are now joint top of the league with Melrose Rugby.

Yet, the tough matches keep coming and this Saturday they face the highest scoring side (by some margin) in the league with the visit of Heriot’s Blues. Coach Dave Carson is not taking any game for granted and expects each one to be a test for is squad. Having said that, the players have responded well to earn four league wins from four fixtures. Injuries and commitments see several regulars missing, but the good news is the return of several players from injury. Seumus Ross has recovered from his hamstring pull and Gordon Gregor is back after his hand injury. Also, coming in is Rory Carson to cover Scott Fraser and back from Army deployment is Rupeni Rokoduguni at centre.

With settled weather staying with us for the game the scene is set for another high tempo match. If Highland can get a result then they may go top of the league.

The 2nd XV are on another weekend off as other regional sides take part in the Regional Bowl and Shield competitions in which 2nd XV sides can’t participate.

An early apology for a typo in Saturday’s match programme – prop Lewis Sinclair has been listed as Lewis Wilson – many apologies.

Shogun Conference
This weekend the opposition for Highland’s junior sides is West of Scotland. The clubs are having a very similar season so this might be a good opportunity to see how Highland’s youngsters are improving. The U18’s travel to Burnbrae on Saturday, followed by the U16’s and U15’s on Sunday. The U14’s and U13’s have another Sunday at home.

The Minis and Micros have their usual Sunday morning sessions. The juniors have a two week break in the Shogun fixtures so keep up to date with what’s happening with training for all age groups.

Girls Rugby
Good news, rugby this weekend with another regional series event at Canal Park. This allows clubs to get together and get games of various age groups played when individual clubs might not be able to field a side. The day starts at about 12 Noon at U18, U16 and U14 levels and the event should finish at about 4pm.

Halloween Party
Don’t forget the club has a fancy dress Halloween party on 26th October. Follow this link for full details: https://www.highlandrugbyclub.org/news/halloween-fancy-dress-party-2467001.html
