Highland Not Taking Kelso Lightly

The fine season continues with many thinking Highland will extend their winning run this weekend away to Kelso.

Yet in this sport it’s always dangerous to take anything for granted, especially against a border’s club like Kelso. They might be sitting bottom of National League One, but Coach Dave Carson won’t take any heed of their big defeats as any club can go through a bad spell and he will expect a tough match.

Andrew Findlater was the big casualty from last Saturday and he will be out for at least six weeks after an operation on a snapped thumb ligament. His brother Craig returns and he will step in for Seumus Ross who is nursing a suspect hamstring. The good news is how the players moving up from the seconds have fitted in so well and even with a few other regulars still missing the squad travelling is very strong.

The 2nd XV are on their mysterious two weekend fixture break, especially baffling as they have games scheduled in January! Their will be home senior action with the 3rd XV hosting Ross Sutherland 2nd XV and Highland will want to ensure those fringe players get match time rather than pulling in 2nd XV players.

Shogun Conference
It’s Perthshire that Highland meet in this weekend’s Conference matches. Hard going as all of the games have been the squads have steadily improved and the coaches might expect a better set of results on Saturday and Sunday. The U18’s travel away on Saturday with U16’s and U15’s making the same trip on Sunday. The U14’s and U13’s will be at home at Canal Park on Sunday.

The Minis and Micros are back to the usual 11am training sessions on Sunday.

Just in case any of you can make it, there will be another World Cup breakfast at the clubhouse for Scotland v Samoa on Monday morning, the kick-off is at 11.15am.
