Highland Misfire Against Ayr
By Peter Martin
Highland travelled in confident mood following a win the previous week, to play Ayr.
The first-half can be summed up as a misfiring lineout and giving away scrum penalties. Highland with little ball going forward and a lack of set-piece retention struggled to get out of their own half and Ayr led by a converted try at half-time, 7-0. The second-half saw an improvement, but with the backs being untidy added to the misery of the misfiring set-pieces. Ayr ran out winners though Highland can be confident of reversing the score when Ayr visit Canal Park. Try scorer for Highland was Henry after a good pick up by Grant.
